This is research paper by Muhammad Naveed Akhtar that examines the role of the military intervention and religious militancy in politics and tries to contextualize the scope of liberalism in Pakistan. The paper further focuses on religious, ideological and political tendencies of Pakistani nation and state. The paper provides religious political parties grew taking anti-western agenda through popularizing the religious narrative especially during cold war period and afterwards. The structure, nature and credibility of religious political parties and their leadership is religio-political divide is analyzed by adopting normative approach. The paper is interestingly relevant reading for any political discussion.
