Designated as Federal Minister for Federal Education & Professional Training and National History and Literary Heritage Division since 2018; Shafqat Mehmood is the senior member of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf. He remained Member National Assembly from May 2013 to-May 2018 (PTI). He was also elected as member of the Senate of Pakistan in March, 1994 for a six year term. He has also served as Federal Minister Caretaker Cabinet in 1993.
